"14, " Miss Francesca quietly counted as a woman walked by
wearing a pair of high-waisted jeans.
We had stepped into the Church Lounge of the Tribeca Grand
after an afternoon of window shopping. I plopped
ungracefully into the nearest overstuffed chair and sighed
deeply with resignation, "I suppose they are really here."
I had told Miss Francesca earlier that I was hesitant about
the season's higher-waisted options, especially in denim. I
loved the idea, however, of a wider pant leg. Give me back
the fuller silhouette, I thought, minus the torso-shrinking
waist line.
Miss Francesca jokingly patted my arm, "Don't fret. You
have trouser jeans to fall back on, and you'll look simply
amazing." I relaxed as she continued, "Your biggest concern
should really be which champagne cocktail we're ordering."
You can always count on Miss Francesca to put it all into
perspective.
