What A Croc

Whenever I come across a crocodile accessory, I am
delightfully reminded of the first time I met Miss Francesca's
father. Miss Francesca and I were traveling from Venice to
Rome and excitedly detoured into Tuscany, where her
parents had retired to a spacious villa. Her mother was the
most gracious host, walking us from room to room to point
out each relic collected from their worldly travels, the
paintings she had labored over, the family portraits that lined
the walls. One photograph stopped me dead in my tracks. It
was a weathered photo of a handsome man sitting in a
luxurious armchair, his foot resting on a tremendous
crocodile.
Miss Francesca caught the look of surprise on my face and
whispered, "That's my father; He's a wee bit eccentric. He'd
just hypnotized that crocodile there."
With perfect timing her father rounded the corner, his voice
booming, "Darling, have you seen my Japanese sword?"
Miss Francesca and I burst into laughter. It's no wonder
she's my most fascinating friend.
