Baby, It's Cold Outside

"I can't wait any longer," Audrey blurted out. "Let's catch a
taxi, please!"
Audrey and I were standing at the corner of 67th and Third,
waiting for the cross-town bus to take us to a performance of
The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center. I had insisted that a bus
would be the easiest way for us to get there, but as the frosty
air made my ears tingle with pain, I knew she was right: It
was freezing.
"Race you there," I replied, making a mad dash for an
approaching taxi. Even though I had the head start, Audrey
beat me to the taxi door, pushing me out of the way to climb
inside.
"I need some arm warmers," Audrey whined, rubbing her
arms. "Hint, hint, for my Christmas gift!"
