Cocktails, Anyone?

I am hosting my annual holiday dinner this weekend, and the
apartment has been lovingly decorated. Audrey and I draped
the fireplace mantle with pine branches and splurged on long
silver candle holders to dress it up. The fragrance of
clove-pierced oranges fills the living room, and a bright
branch of holly berries accompanies a vase of white lilies.
Now I get to take part in my favorite task: selecting my
hostess attire. I want to look both elegant and festive, setting
the tone for the evening. Once I've selected my dress, I
spend an evening with Miss Francesca, poring over all of her
cocktail jewelry in search of a match. She lets me borrow a
piece or two for my dinner party each year, and I carry the
pieces home in one of the pretty velvet pouches that she
keeps them in.
I'll be ready to dazzle my guests.
