Since I travel so much for work, I am a pretty good resource
for what to pack when traveling to different parts of the
world. I know that you'll want sweaters in San Francisco, a
minidress in Miami, and a neck scarf in Nice.
So when my friend, Grace, began planning her first trip to
Portland, she rang me up to ask my suggestions.
"A peacoat for Portland!" I exclaimed, so excited about her
visit to one of my favorite cities. I told her about the misty
mornings, the charming neighborhoods, and the many rose
gardens.
"I owe you one, Lauren," she said at the end of our call, eager
to begin her peacoat search.
"Just bring me back a pint of one of their microbrews," I
requested, only half-kidding.
